Winthuisen, Tomas Felipe De

       WINTHUISEN, TOMÁS FELIPE DE (?–?). Tomás Felipe (Thomás Phelipe) de Winthuisen, governor of Texas from 1741 to 1743, was one of the few civilians to govern Texas under Spanish administration. During his tenure of office the Apache raids on San Antonio continued, and the first reports were received of the appearance of Comanches in the north. He was replaced by Justo Boneo y Morales.
