Texas Tejano.com supports sister organizations with the mission of preserving our heritage and legacy. As such, we're asking everyone to please join 1718 San Antonio Founding Families and Descendants at the 2nd Annual “La Entrada” event.
Join them for a community event to honor 301 years of the founding of San Antonio, Mission San Antonio de Valero (The Alamo), the Villa de Bejar(first Spanish settlement), and Presidio de Bejar(Spanish Governor's Palace). These events are free and open to the public. it includes 2 ceremonies to honor 1. the May 1718 prestigious Spanish Governor Martin de Alarcon's Expedition for the May 1, 1718 arrival of the expedition to officially found San Antonio, Villa de Bejar and the Mission San Antonio de Valero and 2. the May 5, 1718 founding of the Presidio de Bejar.
May 1, 2019, 7:00 -9:00 pm “Founding of San Antonio ceremony” at San Pedro Springs Park.
On May 1, 1718, Spanish Governor Martin de Alarcon'sexpedition which included 35 Spanish royal presidio soldiers, their families, Friars, civilians, horses, 200 head of cattle, 100 head of sheep, supplies, and armoury arrived on the banks of San Pedro Creek, to meet the natives and earlier Spanish expedition participants/family members, to officially found San Antonio, the Villa de Bejar and Mission San Antonio de Valero in the name of His Majesty.
May 4, 2019, 11:00 am-1:00 pm Wreath ceremony to honor the founding of Mission San Antonio de Valero(Alamo) and Presidio de Bejar to commence at The Spanish Governor's Palace and march towards The Alamo Plaza
On May 1-5, 1718, Ceremony dedication for the 1718 founding Mission San Antonio de Valero (which as later nicknamed by the descendants “The Alamo” and later the Presidio de Bejar was formed which established San Antonio's first military presence.
