Austin, Texas – Annual Historic Preservation Conference
Each year, the Texas Historical Commission honors an individual, organization or project that has significantly contributed to the understanding or preservation of Texas history. Specifically recognizes achievements in preservation planning, historic site identification and preservation of significant archival or artifact collections, or research that leads to a greater understanding of state or local history.
On April 1, 2011, Rudi R. Rodriguez received the Texas Historical Commission’s 2010 “Award of Excellence in Preserving History” for his work. He has championed Tejano Heritage and Legacy through Texas Tejano.com; a research, publications and communications firm, and through his role as Founder and Chairman of the new Hispanic Heritage Center of Texas. Rudi has authored and published books, written and produced plays and documentaries, and has begun a movement in the understanding and celebration of the beginning of the Lone Star state.
